Fourth Annual Liss Lecture in Judaica

University of Notre Dame's Department of Theology will host the Fourth Annual Liss Lecture in Judaica. The speaker will be Professor Debra Kaplan, ​Bar-Ilan University.

​Debra Kaplan ​​teaches Jewish History at Bar-Ilan University,​​ where she is the Director of the Halpern Center for Jewish Self-Perception. S​​he is the author of Beyond Expulsion (Stanford University Press, 2011; Hebrew translation Merkaz Zalman Shazar, 2016) and The Patrons and their Poor (University of Pennsylvania Press, 2020). She has won grants from the American Historical Association, the National Endowment for the Humanities and the Israel Science Foundation, and has held fellowships at the Katz Center at University of Pennsylvania and the Israel Institute for Advanced Studies. Her teaching and research interests include Jewish-Christian relations, early modern social history, the Jewish community and its spaces, and women’s history.

The lecture is free and open to the public and a reception will follow in the Scholars Lounge.
