Forever Learning: Lessons of the Holocaust
Instructor: Sid Schroyer
Sid Shroyer, former director of education at Temple Beth El, South Bend, will use his experiences teaching the elective language arts class "Themes in Literature: The Holocaust" that he taught at New Prairie High School as a basis for moderating a discussion of the Holocaust. Each of the eight weekly sessions will last 1:45. The recommended texts are Ordinary Men by Christopher Browning and The Death of Democracy: Hitler's Rise to Power by Benjamin Carter Hett. Mr. Shroyer's training includes teacher workshops in Washington, D.C., New York City, and Jerusalem, and with guidance at historical locations in Germany and Poland. This class will begin Oct. 6.
