NOTRE DAME VS. THE KLAN - Author Talk with Todd Tucker
Tuesday, August 6th, Exhibit Opens at 5:00 PM, Lecture at 6:30 PM
Community Learning Center, St. Joseph County Public Library, Main Branch

Co-sponsored by the Kurt & Tessye Simon Foundation of Temple Beth-El and the Jewish Federation of St. Joseph Valley

Indiana was the center of activity of the Ku Klux Klan in the 1920’s. Jews, Blacks, and Catholics were all terrorized by Klansmen acting under the protection of state and local government. It only ended when citizens resisted. One hundred years ago in South Bend, the Klan was stopped by a group of Notre Dame students.

Todd Tucker, author of Notre Dame vs. The Klan, will speak about the history of the Klan in Indiana, and specifically, about the events chronicled in The History Museum’s exhibit RESIST!, now on view in Beutter-Kernan Hall at the St. Joe County Public Library, 305 S. Michigan Street. The lecture will take place at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 6, in the auditorium of the Community Learning Center at St. Joe County Public Library. Tours of the exhibit, produced in partnership with the Indiana Historical Society, will be available from 5:00 p.m. to 6:15 p.m.

The event is complimentary and light refreshments will be served.
