The P2G Lone Soldiers' fund is part of the Western Galilee Partnership2Gether, which connects the city of Akko and the regional council of Matte Asher with 17 Jewish communities in the US and with the Jewish Community of Budapest.
The P2G Lone Soldiers Fund serves IDF soldiers, focusing on the specific needs of lone soldiers who live in the Western Galilee region, without immediate families in Israel or without any support.
As of May 2024, there are 59 Lone soldiers throughout the Western Galilee Partnership2Gether region.
16 of the Lone soldiers are from Akko, coming from challenging backgrounds without any support, accompanied by welfare services.
In Matte Asher regional Council there are 43 Lone soldiers; 7 are individuals that uses Matte Asher's welfare services, 36 are a part of Regba and Kfar Masarik 'Garin Tzabar', coming from several countries to serve and join the army.
This August a new 'Garin Tzabar' cohort with 17 lone soldiers from all over the world, will join the IDF and arrive to Kfar Masarik to start their training, fully motivated, proud, and privileged.
A few years ago, the Partnership's volunteers have decided to hug and support the Lone soldiers in our region, to embrace, strengthen and thank those precious girls and boys who choose to leave everything behind and to protect and defend the state of Israel. The P2G Lone Soldiers Fund allow us to do so.
Thanks to our communities' support, we were able to reach out to them and equipped their facilities, gift them with a personal voucher for the holidays, supporting their Shabbat Garin when they are all meeting, over the weekends and to add a big smile on their hearts and faces and strengthen the region by deepening their connection to our country, to the region and to our Partnership.
We also had the privilege to get in touch and send our hug and appreciation to three Lone Soldiers from one of our Partnership cities (San Antonio) that came from the States to serve in the War after October 7th and provided them a personal voucher.
We will be happy to continue and support the Lone soldiers in our region, as follows:
- Supporting Shabbat Gariin activities for the 3 'Gariin Tzabar', 4 times a year.
- Vouchers for the holidays (Pessach and Rosh HaShana) for the 22 welfare Lone Soldiers from Akko and Matte Asher.
- Purchasing Equipment for the facilities of the 3 'Gariin Tzabar'
- Purchasing winter equipment for Akko's 16 Lone Soldiers.
The fund focuses on integrating lone soldiers into the Western Galilee community and strengthening international partnerships, which goes beyond supporting the soldiers. For example:
- On going connections with a group of lone soldiers in the region and your community, by receiving periodical videos and photos.
- Sending letters from students to the lone soldiers.
- Arranging Partnership visits and volunteering with the lone Soldiers while in Israel.
Both P2G Lone Soldiers Fund and FIDF organization support soldiers in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), however, they have different focuses and scopes.
While FIDF does crucial work supporting IDF soldiers across Israel, our P2G Lone Soldiers Fund serves an important niche by focusing on the specific needs of lone soldiers in the Western Galilee region, fostering community integration, and strengthening international partnerships.
As a smaller initiative then FIDF, the P2G Lone Soldiers Fund may offer unique programs or services that complement FIDF's broader efforts. It provides targeted assistance to a specific group in a particular region (the Western Galilee), which may be overlooked by a large organization like FIDF.
